Screen Resolution
The Federal Office's website is optimised for a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels. With a 17" screen and this monitor setting, the presentation fills the entire screen.
Browser - JavaScript - Java Applets
The website is also optimized for later browser versions. Some (a few) pages on our website use JavaScript. JavaScript is permanently integrated in current browser versions. Java applets are not used. You can also use this website if you have disabled JavaScript and Java applets in your security settings (the function is guaranteed even without the use of JavaScript).
The font size and colour, link colours, mouse-over functions and so on are controlled by means of style sheets. Netscape Communicator 4.x in particular does not support this function. If you are still using such an old browser version, you need to upgrade to version 6.x or 7.x.
If you are using an older browser, you should download an up-to-date version free of charge from Microsoft, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera or another provider from the Internet. You can then display all information on our website (and also on most other websites) and enjoy its interactive features.
PDF Files
Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) is a globally-used de facto standard for exchanging all types of electronic documents. PDF files can be displayed and printed out. All you need is Adobe Reader®, which you can download free of charge from Adobe.
Barrier-Free Information Technology
This website was designed in accordance with the Federal Ordinance on Barrier-Free Information Technology (Barrier-Free Information Informationstechnik-Verordnung [BITV]) so that as many users as possible with different hard and software requirements or specific tools can access the contents barrier-free.
Shopping Basket (Using Cookies)
The publications you selected are collected in the shopping basket and sent off as a combined order.
Session cookies are used for the shopping basket function (saving your selection between surfing on our website, summarizing the selection and sending the order).
But what are session cookies? Session cookies are small information files that a website operator saves in the main memory of the visitor's PC. The cookies are deleted again when the browser is closed.
You therefore need to configure your browser so that it accepts cookies. Otherwise, the shopping basket will not work.
You can activate cookies as follows:
- Internet Explorer (6.0) = Tools - Internet Options - Security. Here, click either "Default Level" or "Custom Level" and change the level manually to "Medium" (alternatively, you can use the "Privacy" tab to change the settings for accepting cookies to "Medium" or lower).
- Netscape (7.1) = Edit - Preferences - Advanced - Scripts&Plugins. Select Enable Cookies here twice.
- Mozilla Firefox (2.0.0.x) = Tools - Options - Privacy - Cookies. Select "Allow sites to set Cookies".
- Opera (9.2x) = Tools - Preferences - Advanced. Select "Accept cookies".
The details may vary if you are using a browser with a different version number.
Shopping Basket (Order Process)
The order is processed as follows:
The required publication(s) are selected:
For all publications where you see the "shopping basket" icon and the text "Add to basket", you can place the publication in the basket by clicking the icon/text. You can do this repeatedly and your orders are collected in the shopping basket. You can change the number you require in the shopping basket. You can also delete a selection (click "Delete" or change the number to "0"). You create a new view of the shopping basket by choosing "Update". If you want to empty/delete the entire basket, click on "Reset".
Order (order data):
When you click on "Order", the "Order Data" page is displayed. Enter the data that is required. Fields labelled with * are mandatory fields. The order cannot be placed without this information. By choosing "Reset", you can clear all of the fields on the "Order Data" page. Complete the order process by clicking on "Order".
- Confirmation:
The browser displays the message "Order Successful" as a confirmation with details of the publications that you ordered.
You will also receive an e-mail at the address you provided, specifying the publications that you ordered.
