Nationwide integration programme
The intention of the nationwide integration programme is to develop a long-term comprehensive plan of quality development and optimisation of integration support in Germany. To achieve this, it brings together the most important players in integration work. With their help, state-run and private integration support will be better co-ordinated and developed further.
Each section of the nationwide integration programme consists of six stages which build on each other. This allows the quality of the integration programme to increase on a continual basis.
Certain issues are especially important to all fields of activity within the nationwide integration programme. The areas evaluation, quality assurance, intercultural sensitivity, civic involvement and social counselling all play an especially important role. They are decisive in the success of integration measures and processes.
The primary emphasis in the nationwide integration programme was language tuition. New ways of working together were developed as a result of dialogue with the main stakeholders. The objective is the needs-focused optimisation of language tuition programmes for immigrants in Germany.
Integrating people with an immigration background can only succeed if they are offered the same opportunities in the labour market as those without an immigration background. Ensuring equal opportunities in the German labour market is therefore an important goal.
Education is the basis and the starting point for integration in all areas of society. As a result, it plays a key role in the integration of immigrants. Against this background, the nationwide integration programme wants to provide a platform for wide-ranging discussions on the topic of education.
Integration policy should foster good relations between new and old members of society and enable people to co-operate with one another with respect and have equal rights of participation in society. Together with the central players in the field of integration work, the nationwide integration programme intends to support the efforts.
"Nothing is so good that it cannot be improved". Therefore constant efforts to improve are the essential marks of quality in integration work. Even if something has been tried and tested, integration can only be successful in the long run if it has new ideas, strategies and programmes.
The nation-wide integration programme's experts' forum offers the opportunity for practitioners and experts in the field to discuss currents issues of integration support and the recommendations made by specialist working groups.
